Eplan, one of the world’s leading providers of electrical design software for machine, plant and panel-builders, has appointed Dylan Ross as its first dedicated Account Manager for Ireland.

His role will focus on supporting Irish manufacturers in adopting advanced digital solutions, helping them streamline workflows and prepare for Industry 4.0.

Dylan brings a unique combination of practical engineering experience and commercial insight. He holds an integrated Master’s degree in Mechatronic Engineering from Dublin City University, where his studies combined electrical and mechanical design with an emphasis on programming and systems integration. He also earned a professional associate certification in SOLIDWORKS, giving him early exposure to the benefits of design software in engineering contexts.

He began his career as an industrial electrical technician, which gave him first-hand experience of the operational challenges facing manufacturers.

“Much of my early career was spent on factory floors, dealing with the frustrations caused by disconnected systems and inefficient communication between design and maintenance teams,” he explains.

“Time and resources were regularly wasted simply because teams were not working from a common framework.”

Recognising these inefficiencies sparked Dylan’s interest in workflow optimisation. He later transitioned into technical sales, working for four years at a software company specialising in CRM integration and AI-based process improvements. This experience allowed him to understand how digital tools, when correctly deployed, can improve both engineering operations and business outcomes.

Dylan's new role with Eplan gives him the opportunity to combine all this knowledge and insight.

He advises, “Poorly integrated systems cost businesses far more than they realise. Eplan offers, in my view, the best electrical design software available, and I am committed to supporting Irish companies in unlocking its full potential.”

Dylan Ross Headshot 1

As Eplan’s first dedicated representative in Ireland, Dylan’s remit is clear: to act as a trusted technical advisor to panel builders, electrical engineers, and manufacturers, providing localised support and expertise. He will work consultatively with engineers and decision-makers to assess current workflows, identify inefficiencies, and deliver tailored solutions.

“I see my role as a technical partner to our customers, not simply a supplier,” he explains.

“I want to help them not only solve their current challenges, but also identify issues they may not yet be aware of.”

A key aspect of Dylan’s role involves collaboration with colleagues in Rittal. Together, Eplan and Rittal can offer an end-to-end value chain solution, integrating electrical design software with hardware supply and implementation services. This unified approach allows customers to benefit from a single, comprehensive solution that covers both design and delivery, improving efficiencies while saving time and money.

“By combining Eplan’s software with Rittal’s hardware and automation solutions, we can provide a true one-stop shop. This partnership allows customers to prototype and test designs virtually before committing to build, reducing errors, saving time, and lowering costs.”

Dylan’s focus will be on strengthening Eplan’s presence in Ireland, building long-term relationships with engineering and manufacturing firms, and supporting them in adopting digital workflows that prepare them for the demands of Industry 4.0.

He says, “Ireland has all the necessary socio-economic conditions including skilled engineers, high-quality facilities, and strong demand from overseas, to fully embrace digital transformation. My role is to help companies realise that potential, by simplifying adoption and providing ongoing support.”

Customer feedback from Dylan’s initial engagements has been overwhelmingly positive.

“Irish engineers are already aware of Eplan’s capabilities. I’m here as a local, dedicated point of contact who understands their operational environment and can provide immediate, practical support.”

Reflecting on his reasons for taking the role, Dylan comments, “There’s an expression in sales, conviction over commission. I absolutely believe in the value of Eplan's software.

“It is, without question, the industry standard for electrical design and automation. Having seen the problems caused by poor systems throughout my career, I wanted to align myself with a solution that I could genuinely endorse.”

Dylan’s appointment demonstrates Eplan’s commitment to supporting Ireland’s manufacturing and engineering sectors with dedicated, knowledgeable support to help companies optimise their processes and remain competitive in a rapidly evolving industrial landscape.

“I don’t want to position Eplan as simply a possible option; I want to establish it as the preferred, and indeed the only viable choice, for businesses serious about modernising their electrical design workflows,” Dylan concludes.

“I aim to ensure Irish companies have access to both the tools and the expertise required to enhance their efficiency, consistency, and design quality, positioning themselves for long-term success in the era of Industry 4.0.”
