Labelling made easy!
Clear cable and device identification is essential for profitable panel building! Without clear labelling, testing and maintaining panels are challenging and time-consuming activities. Unfortunately, labelling components and marking cables using traditional methods are tedious jobs that few panel builders enjoy. They’re also jobs that can occupy a lot of time and where there’s plenty of opportunity to make mistakes. Surely there has to be a better way?
There is! If you produce the designs for your control panels with a modern computer aided engineering (CAE) package, such as EPLAN Electric P8, the software will do all the work for you by automatically generating label data for every component and legends for every cable marker. All you need to do is to send the data to a suitable printer and your labels and markers are produced almost instantly.
Use a good marking system, like the one from Phoenix Contact, to make your labelling simple and easy.
There’s no possibility of errors, as the label and markers data are produced directly from your design and you’ll never find that a label or marker is missing. And, of course, if you need to update your designs to accommodate late changes in your customer’s requirements or other modifications, it’s the work of a few moments to produce revised labels that accurately reflect the changes you’ve made.
Like many of the tasks involved with building control panels, labelling and cable marking sound trivial and unimportant but, in reality, clear and accurate labelling and marking are essential for every high-quality panel. Thankfully, they’re also now easy to provide, thanks to the versatility of modern CAE software.
Don't just take our word for it! The LCA Group has brought all their labelling inhouse, reducing reliance on external sources, reducing waste, increasing work efficiency whilst also gaining a 30% time saving on each label.
So there you have it; a simple, semi-automated labelling solution that is inexpensive to implement could save you money and time. Intrigued to find out more? Then simply download the white paper and see how your company can start making significant savings that go straight to the bottom line.
