From basics to certification: Your path to expertise with the new Eplan training concept
Eplan recently introduced a new training concept. Why was it modified?
With the new Eplan Platform 2026, we are providing our customers with a compelling engineering solution. The Eplan product portfolio has been expanded with many new and valuable functions. Our goal is
for Eplan users to be highly trained and possess extensive knowledge to utilise the platform for their engineering tasks – and our customers demand precisely this expertise. Therefore, along with the product upgrade, we have also adapted our training programs and have been offering the new concept together since the rollout of Platform 2026 in September 2025. This allows users to become thoroughly familiar with new functions – such as the ability to create circuit diagrams for fluid power systems with Eplan Electric P8.

What is the biggest innovation in the Eplan training courses, and what idea served as the inspiration for their development?
Our training portfolio is now standardised worldwide for the first time. After all, engineering fundamentally is the same everywhere, and we at Eplan continually promote the importance of standardised engineering. We developed this new concept together with our international technical directors. First, we analysed our most popular offerings. These are the basic training courses for Electric P8 and Pro Panel, which provide a solid foundation and impart helpful knowledge for using our products. In these training courses, we now explain the new functions. We have also implemented new standard training courses that cover specific industries, such as the energy market, and support the specialisation of our users, such as the automated generation of circuit diagram documentation.
What is a typical learning path? Can you explain it using an example?
It's as simple as it is logical: Typically, our customers complete basic training and then expand their knowledge through task-specific advanced training courses. Extensive and high-quality eLearning modules are also available to customers for further study of individual topics and content. Alternatively, our customers can directly pursue the path to becoming an Eplan Certified Engineer. Here, participants progress from basic training through dedicated advanced training courses to becoming Eplan Specialists, and at the end of the training series, they are examined and certified by Eplan.
Why should customers book training courses directly with Eplan and not use other providers?
Quite simply: We impart value and knowledge, and first-hand expertise is ultimately the most cost-effective choice. We are the manufacturer of our software solutions and know best how our products are applied in engineering: We understand why certain functions were developed. Furthermore, we have very high-quality standards. Consequently, our trainers are highly qualified: The team consists of engineers with extensive practical experience in design and application. They not only know Eplan inside and out, but are also trained to effectively convey this knowledge. We place great emphasis on this – and our success proves us right: We have around 14,000 participants worldwide in our training courses each year and receive an average rating of 1 to 2 (on a scale where 1 is the best and 6 is the worst). This speaks volumes for the training conducted by Eplan's own employees from our training centres worldwide.
Do you see a trend towards online training?
Online training has become indispensable since the COVID-19 pandemic. Some countries offer almost exclusively online training – and are very successful with it. Others have a roughly 50/50 split between in-person and online training. This usually depends on the size of the country. In any case, one thing is certain: the training is just as good online as it is in person. We're really proud of that.
How long has Eplan offered training courses?
We've offered training courses from the very beginning – ever since Eplan was invented. That's more than 40 years now. Knowledge of how to use our Eplan platform has always been important and will continue to be the foundation for our mission of "Efficient Engineering."
