Eplan News 2.9: Service Pack 1! What can the new Data Portal do?
The current version of Eplan Platform, Version 2.9 has been on the market since the beginning of the year. From that point forward it’s been providing more flexibility and user-friendliness in daily engineering work. Eplan’s software architects were able to realise this using a new overall concept. One of its features is a change to the compilation of the add on modules, making it more transparent in the platform solution: the new “elements” combine the individual add on modules into clearly arranged units for the current version of the platform.
Service Pack 1 provides access to the new Data Portal
Yet full transparency for the product portfolio is just one of many advantages that speak for updating to Version 2.9. There’s even another highlight amongst the numerous software features: Service Pack 1, available since June, provides users exclusive access to the new Data Portal in the Eplan ePulse cloud environment. For Eplan customers with a Software Service Agreement, this expansion offers complete access to standardised data and attractive functionality – provided they register free of charge for ePulse.
Eplan Data Portal: Large selection, best quality, fast and easy to use
The Data Portal allows access to the product catalogues of prestigious component manufacturers. All the solutions anchored in Eplan Platform access the Data Portal in equal measure, and the portal is being continuously expanded.
Aside from the variety of data, another advantage of the new Data Portal is the quality of the data. The data standard, based on eCl@ss Advanced, supplements proven classification standards for device data and raises them up to a uniform, top level. Users benefit from standardised data sets and they can transfer directly from Data Portal into their projects.
And in this case, better really does also mean faster. Since the representation of the data in different system diagrams is always based on a uniform source, users can work much faster – from the start of project planning through to commissioning. The Data Portal user interface is also new, as is the intelligent search function, which makes using it and navigating through the product catalogues ever easier and more intuitive.
The application allows all project participants to easily transfer component data into the Eplan documentation. This reduces the work efforts for the project and, in the end, increases the quality of the machine and plant system documentation.
Eplan ePulse: New Data Portal in a new cloud environment
The Data Portal has been integrated into ePulse since June 2020. This allows access from every Eplan application as well as from any internet-enabled location and home workstation. Furthermore, after a one-time registration, ePulse also offers access to additional exclusive cloud applications such as Eplan eView and eBuild.
Data availability and data security naturally must always go hand-in-hand in the cloud. There is a professional team working around the clock at ePulse to ensure both. The Eplan Trust Center provides full transparency in this area.
Therefore, it’s worth updating the platform to Version 2.9…
…due to the straightforward add-on concept and the numerous functional expansions alone. But it becomes even more interesting in conjunction with the new Data Portal, which is immediately available after a successful registration within the ePulse cloud environment.
Our tip: Users who have been working with an older version of the software should take advantage of the new Service Pack as a springboard for a platform update. This way they can secure access to the new Data Portal at the same time.
