What's New Eplan Platform 2025: Simply using Software

Author: Ken Christie Time to read: minute minutes

Eplan Platform 2025 has been available since the beginning of September. For its launch, we are taking a look at the most important new features. Learn about the updates and how you can use them to your advantage.

Usability is a key quality factor for any software. Eplan's software architects are always seeking ways to improve user-friendliness and efficiency.

Several improvements have been made in Eplan Platform 2025, particularly for creating circuit diagrams in Eplan Electric P8. This is made possible by faster data availability and greater data depth.

Create Comments, To-Do Lists, and More!

Users of older Eplan versions may be familiar with the PDF Comment Navigator or may have already used it for coordination processes. An extended version of the comment navigator is now available in the ribbon bar which supports collaboration and making corrections in the circuit diagram.

The enhanced PDF comment navigator function included in the standard Eplan version 2025 includes improved collaboration. Users with the requisite Collaboration license add-on can access expanded navigation abilities. Some notable new features include the option to generate custom comments, manage to-do lists, and update task statuses. Compared to prior versions, designers now have the capability to author their own comments and insert them into Eplan.

In addition, to-do items can be both defined and edited directly in the comment navigator. Moving forward, users will simply refer to pending tasks visible in the navigator list to rapidly locate and address corresponding points represented within circuit diagrams.

The commenting process is very transparent, showing who wrote the comment, why it was created, and what the current editing status may be. This depth of information should make the change history in the circuit diagram easier to follow.

Eplan Platform 2025 provides users with a new PDF comment navigator in the ribbon bar.

360-degree Preview of Articles

In the current version of Eplan Electric P8, the new macro preview in article management is easy and efficient to use. Previously, only the images for the article were displayed but now the software shows further article information, such as the 2D model, the 3D control panel layout, or the circuit diagram macro directly in the article management overview.

P8 users no longer need to go through the properties to recognise which macros are defined alongside what quantity has been used. The data is clearly displayed in article management when the designer selects the article. The current Eplan version offers more information with fewer manual steps.

The new macro preview in article management in the latest Eplan Electric P8 version offers users a 360-degree view of the selected article. In addition to the associated macros, information such as the 2D model or the 3D control cabinet layout is shown.

Device-specific Property Display

Circuit design involves numerous cable, wire, terminal and connector components, each with their own defining properties for project specifications. Locating this data previously required extensive searching across different documentation. Eplan Platform 2025 expedites this process. By making important component information more readily available, the updated software boosts design efficiency.

In previous Eplan versions, users could view key components like name, function, and diameter within the properties overview in Eplan Electric P8. However, locating this information for a different component first required adjusting the software configuration. Eplan Platform 2025 streamlines this process by making component data instantly accessible in article management and the insert centre. The component information adapts automatically without reconfiguration in the properties overview according to the selection made.

Customise Displayed Information

With an aim to improve efficiency, Eplan users can also configure their information displayed according to different component types. For example, the designer can define which data for connectors, cables, and for terminals to then display in the properties overview. The user is then provided with the requested information when they select the corresponding component in the circuit diagram.

Why don't you take the time to customise your configuration? It is worth investing some initial time to try out different display variants until you have found the most efficient working method for you.

The current Eplan version 2025 supports users with the component-specific property display in the property overview. Displayed component information can be individually configured in an instant.

Navigate New Functions with eLearning

Free eLearning videos are available for the new macro preview in article management and the component-specific property display after registration at www.eplan.co.uk. The new functions are described in detail in the interactive learning modules and can be explored at your own pace.
