What's New in Eplan Platform 2025: Clever Connecting and Cabling
With the previous approach to machine cabling relying on visual measurements, the advancements made in the process did not improve at the same rate. The new launch for Eplan Cable proD in Eplan's Platform 2025 offers the opportunity to plan cables in exact length in 3D. This development negates guesswork and consequently reduces cost. Our focus for today is discussing clever connecting and cabling.
Platform 2025 is valuable for many differing stakeholders. Electrical designers will benefit from more efficient circuit diagram creation, whereas production and service specialists will appreciate clearer circuit diagrams and faster access to information.
Eplan Platform 2025 Machine Cabling:
Detailed planning of prefabricated cables and the exact virtual cabling of machines
A look at machine construction practice reveals four key challenges in machine cabling that result in requirements for cable planning and installation:
An analysis of machine construction practices reveals four key improvements in machine cabling that affects cable planning and installation: precise length planning, greater productivity, lower costs, and ease of use. Eplan Platform 2025 and the new Cable proD will help you make the most of these benefits.
Planning prefabricated cables in Eplan Electric P8
Pre-configured cables can be planned in detail in the new 2025 version of Eplan Electric P8. While it used to be difficult to define the connection points and assign cables and wires, now there is a convenient workflow that supports the planning of prefabricated cables. The advantage of prefabricated cables is that they can be ordered in exact lengths. This prevents the ordering of cables too short or too long, which reduces costs, waste, and unnecessary storage.
Eplan Cable proD 3D Virtual Cabling
To feel the full benefit of using prefabricated cabling, the correct cable lengths must be defined. This will allow you to save time and effort, according to the plug and play principle. The information on the cable type defined in P8 can then be imported into the new Eplan Cable proD; the cabling of the machine is carried out with millimeter precision in the 3D model. The software automatically selects the appropriate prefabricated cable and routes the connection via two connection points of the correct length. The length data feeds back to Electric P8 alongside the required cables ordered in exact lengths. This process saves waiting times for the physical prototypes and provides clear cabling data at an early stage for planning, work preparation, production and service.
The data for the connection points is imported from common MCAD systems, like Inventor or Solidworks. Importing this data into Cable proD therefore acts as an interface between the 3D models from MCAD applications and the correct cable information from Electric P8. Therefore, cables can be precisely defined, routed, and ordered in the correct length.
Simple and Flexible to Use = Fast Collaboration
As users do not plan cable routes for machines every day, cabling with Eplan Cable proD is simple and intuitive. The application offers the necessary flexibility: cable routes that have already been planned can be rescheduled with ease if the dimensions of a machine change at short notice, for example. Orders that have already been planned and processed can also be easily reused and combined together as required. This action can further increase efficiency and streamline your workflow.
Collaboration within the team or with customers is facilitated by an integrated HTML viewer, which shares 3D cabling data, even with non-users of Eplan Cable proD.
